Financial Upgradation Scheme for Gramin Dak Sevaks

New Delhi, March 15, 2024: Financial Upgradation Scheme for Gramin Dak Sevaks : In a move set to bolster the service conditions and career progression of over 2.56 lakh Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs), Union Minister of Communications, Railways, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, introduced a landmark financial upgradation scheme today.

The Gramin Dak Sevaks are the lifeline of the Department of Posts in rural India, facilitating the delivery of postal and financial services to the remotest corners of the nation. Recognizing their invaluable contribution, the newly unveiled scheme aims to address stagnation issues and enhance their working conditions.

Key Highlights of the Gramin Dak Sevaks (Grant of Financial Upgradation) Scheme, 2024:

  1. Financial Upgradations: Under this scheme, every Gramin Dak Sevak will be entitled to three financial upgradations upon completing 12, 24, and 36 years of service. These upgrades will amount to Rs 4,320/-, Rs. 5,520/-, and Rs 7,200/- per annum, respectively.

Additionally, the scheme provides supplementary remuneration to GDSs in the form of ‘Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA)’, further bolstering their earnings.

This initiative marks a significant stride towards improving the service conditions and addressing the longstanding issues of stagnation faced by Gramin Dak Sevaks. It is anticipated to positively impact the lives of over 2.56 lakh rural postal workers, fostering a more conducive work environment and enhancing their career progression prospects.

The unveiling of this scheme underscores the government’s commitment to the welfare of its frontline workers and reinforces its resolve to strengthen rural infrastructure and services across the country.
